“We will not go back to normal. Normal never was. Our pre-corona existence was not normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate and lack. We should not long to return, my friends. We are being given the opportunity to stitch a new garment. One that fits all of humanity and nature.” – Sonya Renee Taylor

This quote resonates with us, as we dip our toes into the outside world again. If we’ve learned one thing from this experience, it is that how we choose to respond is unique to us, to our surroundings, to our situation. It’s also fair to say that we have a difference of opinion of what moving forward will look like. This has not been an easy journey, but it would be nice to think that maybe we’ve learned to connect in a more meaningful way. If anything has become glaringly obvious during this time of reflection, it is that of our privilege. Those who used to go unnoticed are for the first time being recognized as “essential.” We hope that this new found clarity doesn’t get lost in a comfortable and familiar fog of disregard. We look forward to a new way of life, one that is respectful of the people around us. A life where we can take off our blinders and open our eyes, minds and hearts with a keen awareness of the needs of others. As always, we wish you health, love and peace.
