“The thing under my bed waiting to grab my ankle isn’t real. I know that, and I also know that if I’m careful to keep my foot under the covers, it will never be able to grab my ankle.”

– Stephen King, Night Shift

There’s something very satisfying about wearing a costume and taking the opportunity to step into another character, even if just for one night. Maybe this is why Halloween is one of our favorite holidays. We love how our neighborhood gets into the spirit, making their porches and front windows spooky. And some of you really get into it,

with zero care of scaring young children. You know who you are, and we love you.

This time of year fills our basic need to come face-to-face with the mysteries that scare us by allowing us to celebrate them. This is such a valuable thing for children and adults alike. It’s a month dedicated to self expression, facing demons, eating all the candy without judgment, making memories and for adults, it sparks nostalgia. With this, we wish you a very Happy Halloween and we hope to see you out there!

Sam and Shaleen DeStefano
