Ok, tell us this, how was it March yesterday, and August today? In this blur of time, the days seem to blend together while our kids are ruling the neighborhood on their skateboards like it’s 1985 again. The one consistency in our lives that is the driving factor of time has been this magazine. Each month our print deadline sneaks up on us and slaps us with a reality check. But it’s a welcome wake-up call, as we continue to be driven by the people we meet through this great connector. And this issue, is full of kind and talented humans that we want you to know.

Our cover is graced with the beautiful work of local artist Daniel Granitto. We are moved by his paintings and gift for finding beauty in the often overlooked, and we’ll be featuring him in detail in our upcoming October issue. This month, in our center spread, we introduce you to Thomas Althaus, owner and creator of Canned Goods jewelry. His story is uplifting and encourages us to strive to do good for others each and every day.

Our “why” continues to be in the idea that you will read something that moves you. Maybe this formulates in a way as simple as reaching out to a neighbor, or maybe on a larger scale, like getting involved with a local nonprofit. Whatever the motivation, we are glad you’re here. Feel free to reach out to us if you ever have a story you’d like to share or if you want to highlight an individual in the community.

Thank you for reading local.

Sam & Shaleen DeStefano
