April. It teaches us everything. April the anarchic, the final month, of Spring the great connective. Pass any flowering bush or tree and you can’t not hear it, the buzz of the engine, the new life already at work in it, time’s factor.”

– Ali Smith

What better way to announce April than with the beautiful Butterfly Ranger by local favorite, Dolan Gaiman. Meet him and see his work in person at the Firefly Handmade Spring Market on Old South Gaylord St., May 4th and 5th. April will forever stand out in our minds as the month that holds Earth Day, which we found beyond fitting to feature the art of our Wash Park friend and neighbor, Kalliopi Monoyios. Through her work, she beautifully communicates the relationship between Science and Art. She takes a deep dive into our obsession with plastics, our desire for things and the weight of our consumption, both literally and figuratively. We love art that makes us question our daily choices, and her work does exactly this.

Inside this issue we will also introduce you to authors, neighbors and friends. We hope to meet you in person, if we haven’t already, at the Annual Wash Park Home Tour on May 11th. Thank you as always for reading and supporting local!

Your neighbors,

Shaleen and Sam DeStefano
