I don’t know about your house, but ours is currently living in two completely different seasons. August has always felt like that to us, a month with one foot in summer and the other already stepping into fall.
I’ve stopped wishing it would pick a side.
There are still concerts to catch, and patios to enjoy. There are also new routines, and that little spark of butterflies that come with new beginnings. Whether you have kids heading back to school or you’re simply settling into a new rhythm after summer vacations, this month has a way of resetting us.
This issue is full of people who embrace that same sense of possibility. We introduce you to realist painter Rebekah Wood, whose work has an incredible ability to bring you back to a fond memory. We also spend time with the team at Mod Livin, a Colfax institution that has been encouraging Denverites to take design risks for years. And in our Making a Difference feature, you’ll meet Youth on Record, an organization helping young people find confidence, purpose, and their voice through music.
Maybe August is really just an invitation to take notice, and look forward to whatever comes next.
