The Tox is where modern sculpting meets mindful reset. At the helm is Christine MacCarroll, a longtime wellness entrepreneur and functional health practitioner who’s brought The Tox Technique’s proprietary body-contour and lymphatic-flow methods to the RiNo district. Founded on the belief that wellness isn’t just a treatment, but a transformation.
What inspired you to bring The Tox to Denver, and how did your own journey or experience lead you to this wellness concept?
I’ve been practicing functional and holistic nutrition for over a decade, and for most of that time, I’ve been teaching clients about detoxification, how the body’s natural systems keep us balanced and what happens when those pathways get sluggish. I’d talk about ways to support lymphatic flow at home, like dry brushing, gentle self-massage, castor oil packs, or even rebounding. These are small rituals but they make a big difference in how we feel and function.
So, this was already part of my world long before The Tox entered the picture. When I started exploring ways to expand beyond one-on-one work, I came across The Tox. After extensive conversations with the founder, and experiencing the treatment myself, I was genuinely blown away by the results. I could feel the difference immediately.
Denver has such a strong wellness community, but I noticed we were missing a dedicated space where people could go to support detox and lymphatic health.
Your service blends body contouring, lymphatic work, detox and sculpting. Can you walk us through your signature treatment?
Our signature treatment is about 90 percent manual work. At the studio, our technicians use specific hands-on techniques to guide lymphatic flow through the whole body (abdomen, back, arms, and legs) and then finish with our proprietary Tox machine to help move any remaining fluid.
The goal is to stimulate your lymphatic system so it can do what it’s meant to do: move waste and toxins out of the body. By manually activating these pathways, we’re also supporting digestion, circulation, immune function, and even metabolic health. It’s a full-body reset, inside and out.
Because The Tox technique is proprietary, every motion is intentional. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about helping your body work better, move better, and feel more in flow.
Your method emphasizes wellness, reset, circulation, and lymphatic flow. How do you integrate wellness into what might be seen as purely aesthetic treatments?
The truth is, I decided to open The Tox because I knew, with absolute certainty, that consistent treatments would have real, measurable health benefits. The aesthetic results are a happy side effect of what’s happening inside the body.
On the flip side, most of our clients come in for the physical results, like sculpting, de-bloating, and contouring, and then they’re pleasantly surprised by how much better they feel overall. When the lymphatic system is moving and circulation improves, people notice changes in digestion, reduced inflammation, better energy, and even improvements in things like menstrual discomfort.
The lymphatic system is deeply connected to detoxification, and when we help it do its job, we’re supporting everything from metabolic function to brain health, sleep, and mood. Unfortunately, we live in a world that constantly exposes us to more toxins than our bodies were designed to handle. From the products we use to the air we breathe, our bodies are doing their best to keep up. This kind of support is essential for feeling clear, light, and well in today’s world.
For someone new to your studio, what kind of results can they realistically expect, both in how they look and how they feel? Are there outcomes you see repeatedly among your clients?
From the very first session, our clients see results. A majority of the time, that means visible changes like less bloating, puffiness, or water retention. Other times, it’s a feeling, like their digestion is suddenly working better or they just feel lighter in their own body.
That said, it’s a process. You don’t get a six-pack from doing sit-ups once, and the same goes here. The first session “wakes up” your lymphatic system. I like to think of it as the first pass at unclogging a backed-up drain. As you continue coming in, your body begins to flow more efficiently because of the groundwork you’ve already done.
When clients also follow our wellness recommendations, like eating fewer processed fats, sweating regularly, staying hydrated, results build over time. Most people notice they feel consistently less puffy and bloated, their skin looks clearer, and even little things like aches or stiffness start to ease up.
After three to five sessions, it’s common for clients to say they just feel better overall. Their clothes fit more comfortably, their energy improves, and that sense of heaviness or sluggishness starts to lift. It’s all about getting things moving again, and once the body’s flowing, everything just works better.
Why do you feel Denver is the right city for a studio like The Tox?
Denver has this huge focus on health and wellness, but for a long time, we were missing the kinds of next-level wellness concepts that bigger cities like LA and New York have had for years.
What I love about Denver right now is that it’s cooler than people give it credit for. Even in the most recent season of Love Is Blind, which was filmed here, they leaned into the old stereotypes, like cowboy hats, bull riding, country bars. Sure, that’s part of our culture, but it’s not all we are. Denver has evolved. We’re a vibrant, creative, urban city with amazing food, art, and wellness scenes.
What kind of atmosphere or experience do you strive to create when clients walk into The Tox Denver?
We’re a high-vibe studio, not a spa. You’re not going to walk in and hear water trickling over stones or flutes playing in the background. You’re going to hear house music. The energy is alive. We’ve got both concrete floors and crystal chandeliers, so there’s this balance of grit and luxury. It feels upscale but not pretentious. That’s very Denver to me, grounded, stylish, and approachable.
We take the time to explain everything about the treatment so clients know exactly what to expect. Every touchpoint matters, from our black velvet curtains to the complimentary cup of detox tea at the end. We want this to be the best hour or two of someone’s day. The kind of experience where your shoulders drop as soon as you walk in and you think, ahhh, I’m here. I’m being taken care of.
How can people keep their lymphatic system flowing at home?
Staying hydrated is huge. A good benchmark is to take your weight in pounds, divide it in half, and drink that number of ounces of water each day. Walking is another easy, effective habit for keeping lymphatic fluid moving and supporting circulation.
Rebounding (yes, those little trampolines Jane Fonda made famous in the 80s) is amazing for lymphatic flow. Dry brushing and castor oil packs are also wonderful, and they’re two of our best-selling at-home items in the studio for that reason.
Don’t underestimate the power of sweating. Whether it’s from a workout or a sauna session, sweating helps your body release what it doesn’t need and keeps your detox pathways active.
How much does what we eat and drink impact the detox process?
What we eat and drink has a huge impact on detoxification. Everything we put into or onto our bodies has to be processed somehow, whether through digestion or detox pathways. So yes, food choices matter.
With my background in functional nutrition, this is something I talk about all the time. I always begin with what I call the “three Ps”: protein, produce, and probiotics. Aim to include all three every day, if not at every meal. These should come from real, minimally processed foods. The more your food comes out of a package, even if it’s marketed as a “health food,” the more work your body has to do to process it. Real food is always the best choice.
Protein supports metabolism and repair. Produce provides fiber, vitamins, minerals, and even natural hydration, all of which keep things moving and support both the digestive and lymphatic systems. Probiotics help balance gut health and keep your internal ecosystem strong. It’s important to avoid the things that make detox harder, like ultra-processed foods and inflammatory oils.
