“The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”

  Tahereh Mafi

And just like the moon, the month of March has arrived just on time as it always does. March also happens to be the Month of Photography and we are delighted to feature the work of Mario Zoots on the cover and center spread. His beautiful collage work re-imagines photographs from their original intention into new inventive works of art. There’s something to be said about this medium of art and

why it is more appealing right now than ever before. We have all been in a type of holding pattern for the last year. Time can feel stagnant and stale, which makes us crave a release from this sluggish hold and find new ways to move through our day-to-day.

The month of March has always conjured feelings of new life with Spring just around the corner. So it feels fitting to introduce you to the botanic sanctuary, Birdsall & Co. Inside the walls of their garden centers, is a sea of thriving greenery. Which literally and figuratively is a breath of fresh air.

We hope you enjoy this issue and we thank you for continuing to read and support local!
